About NSEN

Who We Are

The Nova Scotia Environmental Network (NSEN) was established in 1991 as a non-profit organization registered provincially under the Society Act. We have a membership of over 40 environmental organizations whose common purpose is to conserve and enhance the natural environment and build a sustainable future for Nova Scotia.

We strive to support, strengthen, and promote the environmental work of our members by connecting them to each other, to governments, and to the general public. We are primarily funded by the financial contributions of our members, as well as occasional government grants for seasonal staff and projects.

What We Do

  • We regularly collaborate with NSEN members and special guests to deliver free public events and webinars on diverse environmental topics.

  • We organize annual government meetings between our members and the provincial Minister of Environment and Climate Change.

  • We facilitate the formation of environmental caucuses among NSEN members to provide a forum for discussion and collaboration on shared priorities.

  • We actively recruit local volunteers and connect them with our members through the NSEN Volunteer Hub.

  • We maintain an active social media presence to highlight our members and provide environmental content for our followers

  • We offer free subscriptions to our Eco-Connections e-newsletter, which distributes environmental news, events, projects and jobs on a monthly basis.

Purpose

Our purpose is to support our members in their efforts to achieve their environmental goals, by facilitating information exchange and by providing a medium for coordinated action.
